In anticipation of this long holiday weekend, the post labor day implication almost always invokes the summer vs fall debate. Throughout America, whether you currently work remote or on site, you fall (no pun intended) into one of the following categories.
And of course, keep in mind that this is all in good fun!
Read on and ask yourself, honestly, which employee are you?
The Summer Season Advocate
Generally, the warm, summer weather carries on for a few additional weeks after Labor Day, and summer fanatics have no intention of admitting the season is over. You’ll find those in this group come back to the workplace still enthusiastically discussing their upcoming weekend barbeques, pool parties, and beach days. Furthermore, their lunch items may encompass leftover cheeseburgers, corn on the cob, and steak. While their kids may be starting to head back to school, they do their best to make the most of these last few weeks. Until the very last day of summer, they refuse to admit that it’s come to an end.
The Fall Fanatic
In contrast to the summer advocates, the “time to bring on fall” crowd anticipation awaits the crisp fall air and close proximity of the holiday season. The first arrivals of pumpkin themed décor, supplies, food/beverage items, etc. instantaneously become a social media frenzy, thus prompting autumn supporters to immediately decorate their workplace space. (If they work from home, they’re decorating their house.)They’re excited to watch their favorite Halloween movies and break out their beanies, scarves, and boots to wear to work. Furthermore, they are already planning their holiday events and seasonal vacations.
The One Who’s Indifferent
Summer, fall, spring, winter; the individuals in this group don’t get caught up in this debate. While they enjoy the summer season, it’s activities, and extra vacation opportunities, they look forward to the specific attributes provided by the three other seasons. Ultimately, they find no merit in participating in the debate. They’ll still eat ice cream in December and drink hot coffee throughout the warmer months, it’s all relative.
