Now that you know How to Map Out a Powerful and Interactive Business Website, lets dive into the features you need to include no matter your business.

All should have the following:

  1. About Page

Probably one of the most visited pages on your website, this is the section where people come to learn about your business, its history and what you do. For example, on our home/about page, we provide an overview of what we do and how we are different from other business advisors.

2. Services page:

As you can probably conclude from the name, this is where you list the services that your business offers. While creating a new or modifying an existing page, keep in mind that your visitors are looking for a particular product or service, so make sure this page is easy to read and straightforward.

3. Contact page

Whether it’s to ask a question, an inquiry about your product or service, or maybe get to know you a little better, you want to ensure that your audience has a list of options to reach you. Make sure you include the following information:

  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Contact form
  • Address/Map/Directions
4. Blog/News Page

From an SEO standpoint, this is one of the most important areas to focus on. If you are looking to boost your business online presence (and you should be) there is no better method than adding consistent quality content to your site.

5. Client/customer testimonials

The testimonials you provide on your website should be real and authentic. If possible, include the individuals full name, position, company, etc. so that they are able to carry substance.

6. Call to Action (CTA)

It’s always important to include a call to action to prompt your visitors on the next step. Ask yourself what, do you want your website visitors to do. Do you want them to contact you, make an appointment, purchase a product? Whatever the objective, have a clear call to action.

7. Two level navigation menus

Whenever possible, design your pages to be no more than two levels deep. Any more can feel completely unnecessary and overwhelming.

8. Responsive design

We touched on this in our previous post, How to Map Out a Powerful and Interactive Business Website. There is no excuse to carry a website that fails to

9. Logo

Your company logo established your brand and the overall design of your website. The good news is that having a custom logo designed is fairly inexpensive.

Depending on your business, we also recommend the ability for your customers/clients to pay invoices online and the ability to make any future appointments online.

Final Thoughts

While this is a list of must have features on your business website, it is certainly not exhaustive.
