How does an ERP work- The different features of the ERP software

How does ERP work properly? What is it? What functions does the ERP software offer in its many forms? These are a few typical queries that business owners frequently have prior to making an ERP software purchase. The capabilities you receive from the ERP software vary depending on the software vendor and bundle you select. However, the majority of ERP software offers the following fundamental features:

1. Accounting

All your financial reports are present in one place: from your purchase orders to payroll- everything.

2. eCommerce and web

You must manage your online sales separately from your physical store. This makes it easier to independently track the revenue and sales generated by your online store. This MRP vs. ERP tutorial includes a full discussion of our MRP study.

3. Human Resources

Customers and employees are both crucial to your business. You may manage your employee management procedures, such as hiring, payroll costs, attendance, etc., with the help of the ERP software.

4. Inventory and warehouse management

With the ERP system, it becomes very easy to manage your inventory, if your business requires you to have one. The monitoring of the warehouse is done vigilantly to ensure that deliveries are carried out smoothly.

5. Project management

The ERP software provides a project management tool to ensure that all parties involved in a project are on the same page. It enables effective communication.

6. CRM (Customer Relationship Management) and marketing

To help you conduct business with other parties and clients more effectively, management of the relationship between your company and the customer is a crucial technique. Contrarily, marketing tactics enable client interaction with your business. Utilizing several strategies, including emails, social media, surveys, etc., makes this possible. The CRM aids in providing information about how successfully implemented marketing initiatives are doing. These techniques would need to be adjusted if they are not doing well enough.

How does On-site vs. Cloud ERP work?

Most often used by smaller enterprises, cloud-based ERP software is superior for practically all business types. It is an open SaaS platform that is less expensive to set up and maintain than other options. You have more freedom, save time and money because the vendors maintain the server. Internet access is necessary to use this kind of ERP software, though. The cost of training, maintenance, and upgrades for cloud software is often covered by monthly or annual subscription fees.

The on-site ERP software, however, does not need internet access. Once you’ve paid for the program, it’s entirely your responsibility to take care of it. It is typically significantly safer than Cloud software because of this. However, since the security is in your hands, you would have to spend more money to make sure you have a security system that is impenetrable. All costs for updates, support, and training are covered by the user.

On-premise software vs. Cloud software- which one is better? In conclusion, it depends on your financial constraints and business needs. In comparison to cloud software, on-premise software offers its users better flexibility, readability, and security. However, a dependable internet service is necessary for the Cloud software. Out of these two, cloud computing software is more well-known among users.

Till now we mostly worked with Microsoft cloud solutions and it mostly came from the customers. And some smaller “home-brewed” solutions as well.
What are your recommendations when it comes to implementations?

Hi Omnishopapp… Our recommendations would vary based on the size of the organization, but we tend to favor Epicor, SAP, and in some of our manufacturing and aerospace clients, ProShop or JobShop. All great, easy to implement and just as easy to use. When we do implementations, we also couple that with significant training for all of the stakeholders and then perform a train the trainer course, so that they are able to train their teams effectively.
